RY X, aka Ry Cuming, is an Australian singer, song-writer, and guitarist based out of LA and is the first artist to be signed to the Stockholm-based label, Dumont Dumont. For those of you in the UK, Germany, or France, you may have heard the breathtaking title track off of his new EP, Berlin, on a particularly stunning Sony 4K commercial. The commercial depicts a shower of multicolored flower petals washing over a various landscapes and is highly reminiscent of the renowned 2005 Sony Bravia commercial that featured the lovely Jose Gonzalez’s cover of “Heartbeat”.
Listening to RY X almost feels like you are invading his most private moments. His soft croon carries a gentle vulnerability that draws you in and transports you to a very specific place with a very specific feeling. He captivates you in these breathtaking moments, and you can’t help but melt into the sincere emotions he reveals.
Being compared to the likes of Bon Iver, RY X is definitely an artist worth taking note of.
